Statue of Pushkin

The Statue of Pushkin erected at the intersection of Fenyang Road, Yueyang Road and Taojiang Road was built by Russian nationals in Shanghai in 1937 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Pushkin's death. In the middle is erected a three-sided beige granite monument holding a bronze bust of Pushkin. During World War II, the statue was looted by Japanese invaders, leaving only the residual seat. In 1947, a new bronze statue was placed on it. In 1987, a new circular base was built on the site, with a bronze bust of Pushkin on it. In the middle is erected a three-sided beige granite monument. The front bottom has a protruding semicircle with the Chinese inscription “Monument for Russian Poet Aleksandr Sergeyevich Pushkin, 1799~1837”. On the top is a semicircular stone flowerpot. The pedestal on the left is engraved with Russian which also means “Monument of Pushkin”. The Statue of Pushkin was announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on November 30, 2011.
