Former Residence of Liu Hongsheng

Located at No.7~8, Lane 687, Zhaojiabang Road, the modern-style garden residence was built in 1948. The south buildings co-own a large garden. The main building has a two-floor brick-and-concrete structure, while the annex building has three floors. It has red-tile roofs. Outer walls are decorated by red hard-ceramic-surface bricks. There are verandas with red-brick square columns on the first floor of the south. Liu Hongsheng lived here from 1950 to 1956. Liu Hongsheng (1888~1956) founded Shanghai Zhanghua Wool Spinning Company, Dachonghua Match Company and other famous enterprises from 1920, and was known as “King of Match in China” and “King of Wool Spinning Industry”. He once served as committee member of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, NPC representative, member of the standing committee of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, etc. In 1992, the building became the private residence of Yin Yanliang, Chairman of Taiwan Ruentex Group. The Former Residence of Liu Hongsheng was announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on November 18, 2010.
