Former Residence of Kung Hsiang-hsi at Yongjia Road
Located at No.383 Yongjia Road, the garden residence of the English country architectural style was built in 1926. It is fake-three-floor brick-and-wood structure. The north facade is vertically divided into three sections, with the porch supported by four Tuscan columns. The south facade has a concave entrance, with the semicircular porch supported by two square columns and two Tuscan columns. On the porch is a large platform with cast iron railings. Kung Hsiang-hsi (1880~1967), born in Shanxi Province, served as Industry Minister, Finance Minister and President of the Executive Yuan of the National Government, President of Central Bank, etc. successively. He settled down in the United States in 1948. The building is now used by Shanghai Cultural Market Administrative Law Enforcement Team. The Former Residence of Kung Hsiang-hsi at Yongjia Road was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on September 23, 1999, and announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on December 4, 2008.
