Former Residence of Ba Jin

Ba Jin, formerly called Li Yaotang, was a modern novelist and essayist. His major works include novels the Torrent Trilogy (Family, Spring and Autumn), the Love Trilogy (Fog, Rain and Lightning), etc. The main building of the residence was built in 1923. The family of Ba Jin settled down here in September 1955, and Ba Jin wrote the Collection of Random Thoughts and many other important works here. The Former Residence of Ba Jin is composed of a main building, two annex buildings and a garden. The main building is a unique fake-three-floor garden house. It is now arranged according to the original layout. Visitors can see the living room and the dining room where the owner received domestic and foreign guests, the sunlight room where he created the Collection of Random Thoughts, and the study where he wrote books day and night. The garden is like spring all the year round, and magnolia, oriental cherry and other flowers and trees here were mostly plated by the owner personally. There are footprints left by Ba Jin on the footpaths in the yard.
