Huang Daopo Memorial
Huang Daopo Memorial is to the east of the Tomb of Huang Daopo in Huajing Town, and has been open to the public since March 2003. The memorial is an antique three-section-compound-style building. On the columns hangs a couplet inscribed by famous calligrapher Qi Gong, which praises Huang Daopo for her achievements in textile industry. The horizontal scroll bears an inscription “Benefiting the Whole Country” by Zhou Gucheng. There are three exhibition halls in the memorial in accordance with the architectural layout. The main hall focuses on Huang Daopo’s biography and historical achievements in developing China’s textile industry, and is composed of four parts: “Fame at Home and Abroad”, “Unprecedented Achievements”, “Memorized by Descendants”, and “Great Cause”. The wing-rooms are secondary halls dominated by old physical objects. The memorial collects over 30 pieces of textile tools of various kinds such as hand-operated padder, pedal-operated padder, sling, string mini-sling, pedal-operated three-spindle spinning wheel and elevated diagonal weaver, and over 300 pieces of cotton cloth, blue cloth with design in white, cotton clothing, aprons and bellybands, bed sheets and quilt covers, etc. of various colors, some of which are treasures of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
