25

        Citang Street

Citang Street was Lama Lane of Shaocheng (Inner City) of Chengdu in the Qing Dynasty and was renamed Citang Street in 1718 as the Lift-time Temple for Nian Gengyao was built here. The temple was renamed Guandi Temple after Nian Gengyao committed a crime, but the street’s name remains unchanged. In Anti-Japanese War period, this street was an important activity position for CPC. Seven party branches and liaison offices were set up here successively. Thus, it is called Revolution Street. It is also called Xinwenhua Street as many book stores and newsstands gathered here.
