东胜街原为清代少城的左司胡同，辛亥革命后改名东胜街，街东头原左司衙门旧址建有著名的西式宾馆沙利文饭店，抗战时设立过美军联络处，抗日名将宋哲元晚年曾在此居住。1950年初，刚入城的中国人民解放军负责人与原中共地下组织负责人在此举行了会师大会。

        Dongsheng Street

        Dongsheng Street, originally Zuosi Lane of Shaocheng (Inner City) of Chengdu in the Qing Dynasty, was renamed Dongsheng Street after the Xinhai Revolution of 1911. There is a famous western hotel – Sullivan Hotel – built in the former site of Zuosi Yamen (office of the local bureaucrat) in the east end of the street. It is also the site for liaison office of the US army in Anti-Japanese War and where Song Zheyuan, the famous anti-Japanese general, lived in his later years. In the beginning of 1950, the leaders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the CPC underground organization met here.
