斌升街原为清代少城的斌升胡同，辛亥革命后改名斌升街。著名学者与诗人、“剑南春”的命名者庞石帚故宅在本街原5号。著名作家李劼人1935年租住于本街原13号，次年迁居相邻的桂花巷原64号，在此创作了长篇小说《死水微澜》、《暴风雨前》和《大波》。

        Binsheng Street

        It was Binsheng Lane of Shaocheng (Inner City) in the Qing Dynasty, renamed Binsheng Street after the Xinhai Revolution. Pang Shizhou, a famous scholar, poet, who named the “Jiannanchun”, had his former residence at former #5 of this street. Famous writer Li Jieren rented the former #13 of this street in 1935 and removed to former #64 Guihua Alley in the next year and wrote novels Ripple on the Stagnant Water, Before the Storm and The Great Wave here.
