多子巷原为清代少城的太平胡同，辛亥革命后因为巷内有制造刀枪兵器的匠铺而改名刀子巷。1935年，家住本巷的川军最高将领刘湘为求吉利而改名多子巷。民国时期曾经出任过成都市长的著名书法家、齐白石入门弟子余中英（即兴公）的故宅原来就在本巷的东头。

        Duozi Alley

        It was Taiping Lane of Shaocheng (Inner City) in the Qing Dynasty, renamed Daozi Alley after the Xinhai Revolution for shops making swords and weapons in the alley. Liu Xiang, Top General of Sichuan Army and born in the alley, renamed it Duozi Alley in 1935. Yu Zhongying, a famous calligrapher, disciple of Qi Baishi and former Mayor of Chengdu City in the Republican Period, lived in the east end of this alley
