西大街原为清代少城最北面的清远胡同，街北就是少城的北城墙。辛亥革命后拆除了少城的城墙，在原清远胡同与北城墙的旧址之上修建了进出老西门的大街，命名为西大街。由于原来的老西门位置偏北，所以西大街也在成都城的西部偏北。

        Xidajie Street

        It is the former Qingyuan Lane in north Shaocheng (Inner City) in the Qing Dynasty with north city wall on its north which was torn down after the Xinhai Revolution, and a street to the former West Gate was built on the former Qingyuan Alley and north city wall and named Xidajie Street. This street is located in northwest of Chengdu City.
