Tongren Road

        It was a south-north passage within the west city wall of Shaocheng (Inner City) in the Qing Dynasty, formerly named Xi Chenggen. Few handcraft workshops were established by Sichuan Military Government to solve living problems of manchu people after the Xinhai Revolution and named “Tongren Factory” to present the thought of five races living together harmoniously and equally. Xichenggen was rebuilt as a road in 1923, named Tongren Road. The first forest park within Chengdu City was built here in the Republican Period.
